"EMOTIONALISM"

 

We expect you to express your emotions fully and truly in all media and all possible sizes. This is a “from the HEART and SOUL show.”  Everything is acceptable but art work lacking in emotion. Consider expressing restrained emotions, very private things that we never talk about. Symbolic art in all media is encouraged. We will have use of the gallery space and also the great room for this show. Therefore large work may be submitted for inclusion.

RECEPTION:  August 21,  5 - 8 pm

OPENING RECEPTION - "HAPPENING"  On this summer’s eve we will give our artistic interpretation to the pagan rituals about giving up told problems, habits, feelings that hold us back, and restrain us, addictions, and any blockages that we want to get rid of. We will throw all of these things into the fire and let them go!  So, we need to symbolize our vision of what we need to let go of. For this, artists (and their guests) can create any non-toxic burnable objects symbolizing toxic thoughts, situations, example- little figures made of papier mache, or wood, or even simple text on the paper - whatever can be burned as a cleansing ritual.

We will all feel lighter.  And being such light hearted beings, we will dance around the fire at the end of the ritual to wonderful music. That will be our Healing Expression Ritual. Only objects to be burned should be brought to the opening reception. The art show will be a separate event.
